The certificate for Widow Francis, residence unknown, 27 July 1646

Theis are to Certify all whome it may concerne That Lieftenant Collonell John Francis was in actuall service as Captaine and Major of Foote in my owne Regiment from the 20th of November 1642 to the 21th of June 1643 and as Leiftenant Collonell and Captaine in the said Regiment from the said 21th of June 1643 to the 14 day of June the day he was slaine being att the Battaile att Naseby. And in all services did shew himselfe a very diligent faithfull and able soldier and haveing many poore kindred and frends behinde him I could not in iustice and Charity refuse to give his executors this testimony. And withall to intreate those whome it may concerne to vouchsafe his executors soe much favour, that they may have a debentur for his arreares and such other lawfull curtesies as shal be thought fitt.
