These are to Certifie whom it may Concerne that James Pearson was in actuall service, as trouper, in my troupe, in the Reg[ime]nt of Col[one]l Buttlers now Col[one]l Hortons, in the Army vnder the Com[m]aund of his Ex[cellen]cie the Lord Fairfax, for the space of two yeares, or thereabout, in w[hi]ch service he was desperately wounded, and hath lost the vse of his limbs (beinge a pensioner at Christ-Church) and is disabled from further service: In witness whereof I have sett my hand, the fist [sic.] day of August 1648:
