The certificate for Thomas Rooden of Weldon, Northamptonshire, 6 April 1668

To the right Wo[rshi]pfull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of ye peace for ye County of North[amp]ton[shire]
Whereas the bearer hereof Thomas Rooden of Weldon in the County of North[amp]ton[shire] upon seuerall Certifficates of persons of Honour of the good and faithfull seruice done to his late Ma[jes]tie of blessed memory by him in the late warrs (w[hi]ch is also Knowne to some of us) had a pension assigned to him by his Ma[jes]t[y]s Com[missione]rs out of the County stock, and paid unto him, untill of late the generall suspension of All pensions was Ordered. We whose names are hereunto subscribed inhabitants of Weldon aforesaid do hereby (at the request of the said Tho[mas] Rooden) humbly Certifie that the said Thomas Rooden is a person of very good and honest behaviour, but by reason of a great charge of a Lame wife and many Children lying upon him, is very poor and indigent and very much needing yo[u]r hon[ou]rs fauours and, as we humbly conceive very Capable of being this way relieued by the Act of parliament in that case made.
