The certificate for Thomas Pugh of Ruabon, Denbighshire, 16 April 1664

To the hon[oura]ble ye Com[missione]rs for Distributing ye moneys Given By the Act of Parliament among ye truely Loyall and indigent Soldiers.
These are to Certifie that it doth appeare vnto vs that Thomas Pugh of Ruabon in ye com[itatus] of Denbigh formerly Shooemaker now decrepitt and maymed hath Serued faithfully & valiantly vnder the Seu[er]all Comands of Col[one]l William Owens Capt[ain] Edward Lloyd and Maior John Edwards esq[ui]res And that he is truly loyall and Indigent And hath neuer to ye best of our knowledge or informac[i]on disserted his M[aje]sties or his Blessed fathers Seruice dureinge the late times of Rebellion and vsurpac[i]on And that he hath not a sufficient Livelyhood of his owne by reason that he hath lost the vse of his hand and Cannot follow his occupac[i]on as formerly he hath donne and hath not a Sufficient livelyhood of his owne to mayntaine his Wief and foure Small Children, nor Since his Ma[je]sties returne hath obtayned any reward, office or imploym[en]t Sufficient for a livelyhood Wherefore wee doe hereby recom[m]end him a p[er]son Fitt to receaue a p[ro]porc[i]on of all Such moneyes as are to be by yow distributed Accordinge to Act of Parliament in that Behalfe made.
