The{se m}ay sertefoy all whom it doth Concern {that} Thomas Paine farrier to my troop hath reseued a hurt by a horse my my [sic.] troop & doth liey very weack as it may apere by his Condittion datted this 22th August 1648

This may Certifie That Thomas Paine Farrier serued In ye troope of Capt[ain] Edw[ard] Foley & Capt[ain] Benia[min] Burges in the Regiment of Col[one]l Horton; euer since ye new modell to this pr[e]sent day dureinge w[hi]ch time he behaued himselfe very honestly & faithfully & Recea[ve]d A hurt by A horse whereby he is disabled of ye vse of his limbs: thus much is
