These are to certifie yo[u]r wor[shi]pps that the bearer hereof Thomas Jace of Duddon in the Co[u]nt[y] of Chest[e]r was actualy in Armes in the service of his lat[e] ma[jes]tie of euer blessed memory as a serieant and other places of service vnd[e]r my Com[m]ande in the Regim[en]t of the Right Hono[u]r[a]ble John Lord Earle Riuers Dueringe all the time of the said warrs: and whyle hee Conformed in Armes and euer since he behaued himselfe w[i]th fidelitie to his said Ma[jes]tie and his Ma[jes]tie that now is I doe furth[e]r certifie that hee hath mantayned himselfe whyle hee had w[i]th all but now is growne poore and aged about seuentie not fitt for labour nor service nor to subsist of himself wittnes my hand and Seale the second day of Jan[uar]y in the 17th yeare of his Ma[jes]t[y]s Raigne Anoq[ue] d[o]m[ini] 1665
