The certificate for Thomas Foster of Walsall, Staffordshire, 3 October 1654

To whom it may concerne

We of the Cunstablewicke of Horton in the County of Stafford whose names are subscribed doe certifie That Thomas Foster was pressed to be souldier into Ireland about three yeares since for the Cunstablewicke of Horton aforesaid. And that he came out of Ireland about May 1654 maymed and in great miserie In compassion wherof the said Cunstablewicke hath paid to Mr John Hill of Shelton And Mr James Till of Stone 3 li. 10 s. for the cutting of his legge although he was neu[er] p[ar]ish[io]nor of theires nor had eu[er] any residence there So that he is become a distressed creeple haueing a wiffe and three children.
