The certificate for Thomas Edwards of Marlborough, Wiltshire, 19 August 1661

These are to Certifie all whome it may concerne That the bearer hereof Thomas Edwards hath faithfully served his late Ma[jes]tie of ever blessed memorie vnder ye Com[m]and of the R[igh]t Hon[oura]ble the Lord Marquesse of Ormond in the Earle of Roscom[m]onds Troope in Ireland, and there served vnto ye Cessation of Armes & afterwards, and since that he was constant actiue and faithfull in and during all ye late vnhappie Warrs in England for his said Ma[jes]tie in the Army of the Right Hon[oura]ble the Lord Marquesse of NewCastle in the Regiment of Colonell Kirkbride, in which Service he lost the vse of his left Arme at the battell of marston Moore, by reason whereof he is altogether made incapable of following his Calling, and rendered deserving all due encouragem[en]t for releife, and imployment for the subsistance of himselfe and his family, In Witnesse where of Wee haue herevnto put Our hands this 19th day of August 1661.
