To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of Peace For the Countye of Wilts[hire],

Whereas wee are verye well assured, that the Bearer hereof Thomas Cleeue of Meare in the Countye of Wilts[hire], hath been A stout Souldier for his Ma[jes]tie In the time of the late Warrs, In which service he hath received many wounds, And since hath suffered much by Imprisonement, and other hard vsage for his Loyaltye; It is therefore Humbly and earnestly desired That you would be pleased to take his Case into Consideration, And to yeild him such releife, out of that Monye which is wont to be allowed to Maimed Souldiers, As you shall thincke fit, And &c:
