The certificate for Symon Jeffery of Bideford, Devon, 22 April 1663

Att the request of Symon Jeffery of Bideford in the County of Devon, wee, Whose names are subscribed, doe hereby certify and make knowne unto all to whom these may come, or appertaine, that the said Jeffery served his Ma[jes]ty that now is, and his late Royall father of blessed Memory, by the space of Seaven yeares & upwards under the Co[m]aund of Maior Richard Pomeroy, and Capt[ain] John Gealard, duringe all w[hi]ch tyme he behaved himself a loyall subiect to his utmost power, in w[hi]ch Service, he received many dangerous wounds, as also imprison[men]ts under the late usurped power w[hi]ch have occasioned his decrepednes of body, scarcely able to stirre in his bedd, and become miserably poore & an Obiect of all peoples pitty & Compassion. And thus wee testify 22 Aprilis Anno D[o]m[in]i 1663.
