The certificate for Roger Mogridge of Sampford Courtenay, Devon, 28 February 1678

Certificate that Roger Mogridge of the Parish of Sampford Courtney, weaver, was still in his Ma[jes]ties service, from the beginning of these unhappie warrs, untill the surrender of Dartmouth, and hath ever since been loyall and faithfull to his Ma[jes]tie that now is. And being thinly cloathed in the garrison of Dartmouth aforesaid, under the Command of Major Hugh Pollard my father, did take a great cold one night upon the ground, Whereby the said Rogers hand did gangreene, that he was afterwards forced to have his hand cut off, after a great deal of costs and charges, and endured a great deale of paines he was put into [ends abruptly]
