Whereas the bearer hereof Rob[er]t ap John ap Richard hath served as A soldiour in the warr of the late king of blessed memorie first in the regiment of Colonell Will[ia]m Wynne next under Col[one]l Hugh Wynnes reg[i]m[en]t whereof I was one of ye Captains & he was vnder my comand, then vpon the rising in Anglisey pr[e]ferred by me vnto Maior Doublen then of the regiment of gen[er]all Bucklys reg[i]m[en]t for A knowne stout souldiour in all w[hi]ch services he behaved himselfe both valiant & constant eu[e]r to his ma[jes]ties right wherby he hath had diu[e]rse imprisenm[en]ts to his greate charge & weaknes of his pr[e]sent health beside some mattereall wonds in his legs as the scares therof may testyffie, in all w[hi]ch distresse he hath vntill this day continued his Ma[jest]i[e]s most faythfull servant w[i]thout alterac[i]on. In wittnesse hearvnto I haue sett my hand. No[vem]ber 18th 1665
