The certificate for Richard Witfied of Cronton, Lancashire, Easter 1663

These are to certifie all whome it maye concerne that Richard Witfied of Cronton in the Countie of Lancaster was a foote Souldier vnder Thomas Ashton of Penketh Esq[uire] deceased then Captaine of a Freehold compeny in the Garrison of Warrington and soe continved a souldier soe long as the same Towne did continue a Garrison for the late King, And that hee was afterwards a Troop[er] vnder Collonell Veere and one of his owne Troope, And that hee hath alwayse beene true and Faithfull to his Ma[je]stie and never deserted the same by takeing vpp Armes against his late Ma[jes]ti[e] or his Ma[jes]tiee that now is. And that hee is aged and Indigent all which I make [illegible] do Certifie &c
