The certificate for Richard Wilkes of Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, 17 June 1662

To the R[igh]t Worshipfull the Justices of the peace for the County of Hartford for & in the behalfe of the truly Loyall & indigent souldiour.

These are to certifie that the bearer hereof Richard Wilkes of Rickmonsworth in the County of Hartford aforesaid was a souldiour in the service of his late Ma[jes]ty (of ever blessed memory) in the Regiment and troope of S[i]r John Digby sometimes Serjeant Maior Generall for many yeares and afterwards under the Comand of Collonell William Chamberleyn Collonell by succession of the said S[i]r John Digby, And that he hath ever bin & is truly Loyall And hath never deserted his Ma[jes]ties or his blessed Fathers service during the late tymes of Rebellion & usurpac[i]on, haveing not a sufficient Livelyhoodd of his owne & thereby indigent; nor hath since his Ma[jes]ties returne obteyned any reward Office or imployment sufficient for a Livelyhood, wherefore wee doe hereby Comend him as a person fit to receive a proportion of all such moneyes or pention as are to be by you distributed according to Act of Parliament In witnesse whereof wee have hereunto sett our hands & seales the 17th day of June Anno d[o]mi[ni] 1662.
