The certificate for Richard Tomlinson of Gloverstone, Cheshire, 11 October 1662

These are humbly to certifie all whom it may Concerne, that the Bearer hereof Richard Tomlinson of Gloverstone in the County of Chester Gunne-smith Actually served his late Ma[jes]tie (of ever blessed and famous memorie) as Gunsmith to the regim[en]t lately Com[m]aunded of Collonell Marrow, deceased, and at the siege before Namptwich he was shott in his Ancle of his left legge, by reason whereof, he is disabled to follow his said vocation as formerly, to his great losse and impoverishment haveing a wife and five small Children, their whole dependance of Liuelyhood meerely consisting of his labour: since w[hi]ch time he hath demeaned himselfe as a loyall Subiect to his now sacred Ma[jes]tie, and hath bene alwaies actiue to his poore abillity to advance his said Ma[jes]t[y’]s Interest, and never to our knowledges revolted nor deserted their said Ma[jes]t[y’]s services; In testimony of the trueth whereof (at his request) we haue herevnto subscribed our names the 11th of October in the Fowerteenth yeare of the Reigne of o[u]r Soveraigne L[or]d Charles the Second by the Grace of God King of England, Scotland, France and Ireland defender of the Faith &c Anno D[o]m[in]i 1662
