The certificate for Richard Spencer of Lathom, Lancashire, Midsummer 1664

Thes are to Certify all whom thes presents may Concerne that Richard Spencer of Lathom in the County of Lancash[ir]e was a Souldier and Trooper in the beginning of this late vnhappy warres for his sacred ma[jes]tie within the County Palatine of Lancaster at Lancaster, Boulton, Wiggan, Stocken Heath and seuerall other places vnder the Com[m]and of the late Ho[noura]ble James Earle of Derby & vnder Col[onel] Edward Vere whom hee neuer deserted, nor tooke vp Armes with any Forces raysed by the parliam[en]t but hath Continued faythfull to his s[ai]d maiesty to this present Day. In Testemony whereof Wee haue subscribed our hands this Sixth day of January Anno R[egni]R[egi]s Caroli S[e]c[un]d[i] nunc Angliae &c xiiiio Annoq Domino 1662

Wee doe further Certify that the said Rich[ard] Spencer Receiued many mortall & greiuous wounds at Lancaster, Boulton & Stocken heath and hath since been all the Later seige at Lathom & therefore to bee Commiserated, &c
