Wee whose names are subscribed Justices of the peace for the county afors[ai]d doe in considerac[i]on of the emenent Loyalty and great suferrings of Rich[ar]d Arscott of Sampford Courtney in this county gent[leman] in his late Ma[jes]ties late service in the vnhappy warrs thinke fitt and order yt Mr. Gilbert Richard of Crediton

the now Gou[er]nour of the workhouse of this county doe out of the p[ro]cedure of Two hundred pounds in money and other stock of a considerable value belonging to this county to bee deposited in his handes and custody pay unto the said Mr. Arscott the sum[m]e of Ten pounds p[er] annu[m] by quarterly payments vntill further order Giuen und[e]r o[u]r handes and seales this 15th day of October An[n]o regni R[e]g[i]s Jac[obi] S[ecun]di Angl[ie] &c 1: 1685
