The certificate for Richard ap Davyd of Erbistock, 23 April 1677

Honou[re]d S[i]r
The reall & true Indigency of Richard ap Davyd of Erbystocke [illegible] one of the Maymed souldiers in pension occasions this addresse in his behalfe, His own sicknesse (& the sicknesse of his wife & children at the same time) did hinder him from comming to looke after his pension the last quarter, & though the rules of the court were so strict as to command the personall appearance of all p[er]sons that expected the benefit of those pensions, yet in regard this poor man was not able by reason of his infirmities afores[ai]d to observe them & to give his p[er]sonall attendance then, hee hopes the Court will not bee so severe as to deprive him of the benefit thereof, & if my testimony of the truth of this mans condition may in any wise take place I do assure you that I know none in the whole Hundred so fit an object of that publique charity as this man is, so that I hope you will looke vpon him so favourably as not onely to graunt him the arrears of the last q[ua]rter but to continue him still in pension, W[hi]ch will [illegible] merrit the prayers of the poore man & also much oblige the gratulations of S[ir]
Your affectionatest Cousin & very humble servant
John Salusbury
