The certificate for Quartermaster John Chapman, Charles Fleetwood’s Regiment, 22 November 1648

These are to Certifie whome it doth or may Concerne yt John Chapman hath served as Corporall vnder my Com[m]ande in ye Regement of Col[one]l Fleetwood vnder ye Com[m]ande of his Excelency ye Lord Fairfax from ye 22 of Aprill 1645 vntill ye 14 of June 1647 at w[hi]ch time hee was mustred quart[er]m[aste]r and hath p[er] Performed Duty as quart[er]m[aste]r till hee was wounded beefore Colchester where hee lost ye vse of one of his Leggs haueing passed all Musters from ye 22 of Aprill to 1645 to ye 14 of June 1647 as Corporall & from ye 14 of June 1647 to ye date hereof hee hath passed all Musters as Quart[er]m[aste]r dureing ye time hee served as Corporall he hath Receiued 48 li. 17 s. 6 d. and is in arreere 49 li. 10 s. dureing ye time of his beeing quart[er]m[aste]r vnto ye date hereof hee hath received ye som[m]e of 117 li. 12 s. and is in areere 92 li. 16 s. all yt hath beene received by him from ye time of his entertainment to this day is 166 li. 9 s. 6 d. hee beeing still in arree [sic.] 137 li. 06 s. except deduction for free quarter in witnes whereof I haue herevnto sett my hande this 22 of Nouemb[er] 1648.
