Wheras the bearer hearof Piers griffith hath served his late Ma[jes]tie as A Foote soldiare vnder my com[m]and in the reg[i]m[en]t of Collonel Hugh Wynne for the space of two yeares & vpwards & hath behaued himselfe valiantlie & neu[er] was in armes of the adverse partie these are therefore to certiffie them whome it may concerne of his vprightness & that he is a fitt obiect to receave a p[ar]te of the maymed soldiours mise In witnesse hearof I haue hearvnto sett my hand the 24 day of this pr[e]sent July 1664.
