The certificate for Michaell Austin of Chichester, Sussex, 7 April 1662

Theis are to Certefye All whome it may Concerne That Michaell Austin of the Cittie of Chichester Tayler was a Souldier for the service of the late Kinge of euer Blessed Memory at the begynninge of the late vnhappie Warr Wherein hee Constantly Performed very True and Faithfull Service and was abroade in many Battayles, whereby he is become very lame and Impotent by Reason of Hurts and Bruses hee then Receiued, and beinge Turned out of the Garrison of Chichester hee went a Soldier into yt vnder the Commaund of Collonell S[i]r Edward Forde into the West, and afterwards was a Soldier in Arundell Castle, where hee was taken Prisoner and after the Castle was Surrendered to S[i]r William Waller he Came to Chichester, where he was Imprisoned by the space of Two Monethes, for Refuseinge to Take the Engagement; And now beinge become Aged and Impotent desires a Testimoniall vnder our hands of the Premises w[hi]ch wee Certefie to be true, and desires a Pension out of the stock of Maymed Soliers for his Reliefe in theis hard Tymes &c. dated vnder our hands the Seauenth Day of Aprill 1662.
