The certificate for Mary Bromfeild of Barking, Essex, 15 December 1652

To all Majors, Sheriffes, Bayliffs, Justices of Peace, Constables, and all other Officers whom these may any waies concerne.

Whereas the Bearer hereof Mary Bromfeild whose husband John Bromfeild Souldier was slain in the service of the Commonwealth, under the command of the Earle of Mancher in the Regiment of Col[onel] Mildmaye and hath beene recommended unto us the Treasurers for maimed Souldiers and Widdows, for reliefe of herselfe and three Children which lies not in our power; but considering her wants and great charge, have given unto her Tenn shillings to beare her charges to Barkin in the County of Essex the place of her said husbands habitation and abode when he first tooke up Armes, desiring all whom it may any waies concerne to permit and suffer the said Mary Bromfield to pass from London to Barkin aforesaid, she behaving himself civilly and orderly in her journey. We therefore by vertue of an Act of Parliament dated the 30th day of September 1651. herewith sent, doe recommend her according to the said Act unto you, that she may accordingly have provision made for her. Given under our Hands and publique Seale this 15th day of December in the yeare of our Lord God 1652.
