We whose names are herevnto subscribed doe hereby Certifie that Daniell Birch whilest he lived in this Cittie behaved & demeaned himselfe {very} Civilly & honestly & was well affected to the P[ar]liam[en]t, And that (leavinge a wife & twoe small Children in this Cittie) he went out with his owne horse & armes into the service of the State, And that as appeareth by the Certificate of Collonell Mathewe Thomlinson his Collonell he died in Scotland in the said service.

I did knowe the above named Daniell Birch he was a verry honest man one that incouraged younge men to goe souldiers in the service of the Parl[iamen]t: That his friends p[ro]cured him money w[i]th w[hi]ch he bought a horse & Armes and went himselfe in the service for Scotland, where I have herd he was slayne in the service, I knowe his wiffe & towe Children are in great want of Releife and are desirous to Certifie the same
