<Byron>

<S[i]r Tho[mas] Byron dec[ease]d>

<Legam certif[icate]  of Mr Ashburnham.>

Being desired to Certify my knowleidg of the Lady Byron her pretences in her petition herevnto annexed: I doe well remember that after the Death of that very Honourable person S[i]r Thomas Byron; his lady was a sutor to his late Ma[jes]ty (of Blessed memory) for monyes which she affirmed her Husband had lent to the king to satisfy that Regiment of Horse vnder his Command. And that the Lady Byron did then make the debt soe clearly appeare to his Ma[jes]ty that (to the best of my remembrance) he did vndertake to helpe her presently with four Hundred pounds, in part of that Debt, and said he would give me Warrant for itt. But I never had any, nor did euer pay any part therof. This is all that I Cann Call to minde in that business.
