The certificate for John Yale of Chirk, Denbighshire, 1 August 1664

These are to Certifie that Liv[etenan]t John Yale of Chirk in the County of Denbigh in the tymes of the late troubles was Engaged in the service of his late Ma[jes]tie of Blessed memory first under the Command of Major Francis Manley then of S[i]r John Watts and afterwards of S[i]r Evan Lloyd Barr[one]tt In whose Regiment the said John Yale was Liev[tenan]t of Foote to Capt[ain] Thomas Yale and was Engaged in Divers services wherein he behaved himselfe with fidelity and Courage. He hath been Three tymes imprisoned in the tyme of the Late Usurpation and hath been wounded and Plundred of all he had for his Loyallty. And in the Last Engagement in Cheshire Under S[i]r George Booth and S[i]r Thomas Middleton the saide John Yale did List himselfe for his Ma[jes]ties service and was taken Prisoner and was Indicted at the Quarter sessions for this County for his Actings and services then performed to his Ma[jes]tie. Wee Doe further Certifie that he is poore and Aged and Doe therefore recomend him to the Justices of Peace for the said County, as a person fitt to have a pension for his support and maintenance. Given under our hands and seales the first Day of August 1664.
