The certificate for John Sillitoe, Staffordshire, 23 May 1651

These are to Certify all whom it may Concerne that John Sillitoe was shott into the thye at the storming of Choulmley house, at w[hi]ch tyme he was in Actuall Service vnder my Com[m]and, & by Reason of the said shott is disabled from the gettinge of a liuelyhood by his labour & paynes as formerly hee was accoustomed to doe; hee haueing had above 20 peces of boanes taken out of the wound; Therefore I shall in his behalf Humbly moue yo[u]r Christianlike Compassion to bee afforded him, & that yo[u]r Wor[shi]ps: will bee pleased to admit him a pensioner & afford him yo[u]r Releife, as yow doe to others in the like Nature; by w[hi]ch yow shall not onely p[er]petually Engaige the poore maim’d man; but highly oblige
