The certificate for John Rigby of Tarvin, Cheshire, 10 April 1656

These are to Certifie whom it may Conerne that John Rigby of Tarvin in this County of Chester hath served a faithfull Souldier for the service of this Com[m]on wealth since the first Leagure before the citty of Chester as occasion hath presented it selfe First vnder the com[m]and of Captaine John Brookes at Mountgomery Fight, and Trafford bridge all one winter. Then in Tarvin a Corporale vnder Captaine Hardware till the reducem[en]t of Chester sithence at Worcester Fight vnder Captaine John Davies in Col[one]l Brookes his Regim[en]t. The which last service hath brough him to much weakenesse by the length of the march & heats and colds therein soe that hee is not able to worke [illegible] nor to maintaine himselfe and aged wife vnlesse hee may bee admitted a penc[i]on[e]r as wee conceive and verily beleive. Dated this x th of Aprill 1656
