The certificate for John Peacocke of Kingswinford, Staffordshire, April 1647

<To our hon[ou]red Freinds Capt[ain] Stone and the rest of the Justices of the Peace of the County of Stafford theis>
Gentlemen
The warres being now through gods mercy happily comsumate wee shall make it our busines to putt Lawes and ordinances of Parliam[en]t in Execuc[i]on for reliefe of maymed sould[ie]rs that have beene faithfull in their service. Amongst w[hi]ch this bearer Corp[ora]ll Peacocke (who was wounded at Banbury siege & made vncapable of following his calleing as by his petic[i]on and other pages vnd[e]r our hands appe[ar]s) should have deservedly shared had hee beene resident within our County when he first engaged, wee comend him to yo[u]r favo[u]rs & Desire that hee may bee the subject of yo[u]r Compassions at yo[u]r next Q[uar]t[e]r Sessions. Wee are Gent[lemen]
