<To our hon[ou]red freinds the Gent[lemen] of the Com[m]ittee of Stafford theis>
Gentlemen
this bearor John Peacocke (being vtterly disabled to follow his calling by a dangerous shotte rec[ieve]d at Banbury) hath addressed himselfe by petic[i]on to vs (w[hi]ch wee send enclosed) for an Annuall penc[i]on: It is out of our Capcities to satisfy his desires in that p[ar]ticul[a]r (though hee deserves respect being a man of approved valour & faithfulnes) because it appears to vs that many yeeres before his engagem[en]t in this s[e]rvice hee was an inhabitant of Kings Swinford w[i]thin yo[u]r County, And therefore wee earnestly desire that some effectuall course might be taken by you for his releife and wee shall remaine
