We doe verily beleive the w[i]thin written Petic[i]on to be true & do Certifye that the petic[i]oner is well knowne to us to be of an honest life and Conversac[i]on & we do not Expect that a Gratuity out of the County Stock shal be any Ease to o[u]r Parish to of Okehampton who have & Still Intend to p[ro]vide for the Petic[i]oner but only for ye petic[i]oners more Chearfull Subsistance & Encouragem[en]t of Loyalty
