Theis are to Certifie that the bearer hereof John Hughes of Ruthin hath very faithfully serued his late Ma[jes]tie Charles the first of Blessed memory in the late vnhappy warres for many yeares together vnder my fathers Com[m]and and mine in the Regiment of Col[one]l Hugh Wynne, and that he ever was and still is very faithfull and Loyeall to his sayd Ma[jes]tie that now is.
