The certificate for John Downat of Holt, Denbighshire, 14 July 1663

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of peace of the County of Denbigh.
These are to certifie,
That John Downat of Lyons al[ia]s Hoult in the county aforesaid was a foote soldier in my company in S[i]r John Owens his Regim[en]t, that hee is truly loyall & indigent, and hath neu[er] to the best of my knowledge, or informac[i]on deserted his Ma[jes]t[y]s or his blessed fathers service, dureing all the tyme of Rebellion & usurpac[i]on, And that hee hath not a sufficient livelyhood of his owne, that he reseived seu[er]all wounds & bruses in the said service, wherefore I doe hereby recomend him as a p[er]son fitt to receive an yearely pention from his Ma[jes]t[y]s Treasurors of the s[ai]d County according to the late Act in that behalfe made and provided.
