These are to Certifie that John Dongh of Ely did of his owne free And voluntary Accord serued [sic.] as a private souldger in the warres of our Late Souvraigne Lord King Charles the first for divers years together in my Troope in the Earl of Northamptons Regiment And was severall times Imprisoned by the Rebelles, And hath always continued faithfully to his Trust, and never diserted the said service: In wittnesse my hand.
