To the Right Wo[rshipfu]ll the Justices of Peace for the County of Chester

We doe humbly c[er]tefie that the bearer hereof Joane Oulton is the widowe & Relict of one Thomas Oulton who was a maimed soldier in the service of the p[ar]liam[en]t and by ord[e]r fro[m] yo[u]r wo[rshi]pps had a stipend or allowance (forth of the monies raysed for releife of maymed soldiers) of xl s. a yeare tow[a]rds his mantenance & subsistance; and that the said Thomas Oulton died about xen dayes since and that the bearer his Relict in the tyme of warre had her house burned to the ground and lost most of her goodes and by reason thereof is brought to a lowe estate; and haueinge now lost her husband we comend her to yo[u]r wo[rshi]pps charitable consid[e]rac[i]on as an obiect worthy of some allowance amongst the widowes and orphanes of such soldiers as haue p[er]ished or beene maimed in the late warres & in service of the p[ar]liam[en]t we are
