To ye right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of ye Peace att the Quarter Sessions assembled
Wee whose names are subscribed inhabitants of ye p[ar]ish of Meare in ye s[ai]d County doe heerby humbly Certifie that this o[u]r poore Neighbour Jeremie Williams wase out in Armes, for ye kings Ma[jes]ties service in ye late warrs And as he affirmeth about ye space of Fiue yeares: vnder seaverall Com[m]anders in Sundry Fights wheare some of his Com[m]anders wear kiled and he baering about hime at this tyme the markes of Certaine wounds for ye manifestac[i]on therof; And euer since his Ma[jes]ties Army wase desolued the said Jeremie Williams hath demeade himself very honesy & ciuelly not Adhering to that parlaiment [sic.] p[ar]tie in any wise; Now his and our humble desires is that yo[u]r Wo[rshi]pps will be pleassed in compac[i]on to looke vpon him as A poore decreped Soldier through want deserving Some smale stypeing [sic.] out of his most grac[i]ous Ma[jes]ties pay for maimed Soldiers The premisses being Considred and granted will greatly Oblige vs euer to continue
