Theis are to Certifie all whome it may Concerne that one James Ward of Berwicke in the County of Lanc[aste]r is very poore and inigent who was a souldier vnd[e]r my Comand in the Rigiem[en]t of S[i]r Jo[hn] Girlington who was faithfull in his Ma[jes]ties service Charles the first of Ever blessed memory and hath beeene faithfull ever since his Ma[jes]ties happy restorac[i]on w[hi]ch I make bould to [illegible] certifie therefore humbly beggs hee may be one of the maymed souldiers & desires such allowance as other poore maymed souldiers hath w[hi]ch I am assurred of his faithfullnes to his Ma[jes]tie doth deserve therefore makes bold to Certifie vnder my hand this twelvth day of November in the fyve & twent[i]eth yeare of his Ma[jes]tie Raigne Anno D[o]m[ini] 1673
