The certificate for Hugh Lewis of Boduan, Carnarvonshire, 10 April 1672

To the right wor[shi]pp[fu]ll & wor[shi]pp[fu]ll the Justices of the peace of & for the County of Carnarvon & all others to whom it may Concerne.
These are to Certifie your worshipps & all others whome it may Concerne that I am credibly informed that Hugh Lewis of Bodvuan in the County of Carnarvon was pressed out of Bodvuan aforesaid for his Majestie king Charles the first of ever blessed memory his service in his last warrs at Scotland vnder the Commaund of Robert Mostyn his Capten & after the Cessation of the sayd warrs at Scotland he the sayd Hugh Lewis to myne owne knowledge was from Bodvuan aforesaid the second time pressed as a foote souldier to serve his said Majestie Kinge Charles the first vnder the Commaund of the most honored Prince Rupert att the seuerall fights Battles & skirmishes vizt at the storminge of Boulton in Llancasheir the sheige of Leverpoole & the Battle at Marston Moore in the County of York & hath Continued allways faithfull & loyall to his said Majestie & his Majestie that now is & receaved seu[er]all wounds in said services soe that by reason thereof & of being above sixty yeares of age he is become soe indigent & poore that he is not able to relieve himselfe his wife & five smale children all which I recommend to your worshipps to doe therein as your worshipps shall thinke fitt & soe remaine
