The certificate for Hugh Jones, Denbighshire, c. 1662 to 1667

These are to Certifie that the Bearer Hugh Jones hath bin a souldier in the late warre vnder the Comand of Capt[ain] Goffe in the Duke of Abemarls Redgiment whoe was then his Coll[onel], he Continued Always faithfull and neuer revolted from his late Majesties of Ever blessed memories service and was soe reddy at the last Riseinge at Chester that he left wife & Children to take vpp Arms and was Entertained vnder Capt[ain] Tho[mas] Barker, and is reddy still vpon all occasions to serue his Majesty in what lies in time; he hath Receaved seuerall wounds and hath a great chardge. A litle releife will doe hime A great kindnes.
