These are to Certifie that the bearer hereof Hugh ap Richard of Esclusam in the said County was in the tyme of the Late warres a souldier vnder the Comand of Capt[ain] William Broughton and alsoe vnder the Comand of Capt[ain] Ellis Sutton in the services of his Late Ma[jes]tie of Blessed memorye and that he did Faythfully serve as a souldier in severall services vnder the said Comands For diverse yeares haveinge eu[er] since Continued truelly Loyall through all difficulty witnes our handes the nine and Twentieth daye of December In the Foureteenth yeare of his Ma[jes]ties Raigne. and that he is poor & indigent
