Wee the gentlemen, Free houlders and inhabittants of the p[ar]ishe of Llanvaire Dyffrincloyd, doe make bould to Certifie yo[u]r wo[rshi]pps vnder our hands on the p[ar]te and behaulf of Griffith Davies That the said Griffith Davies was a presse souldier for Scottland out of our p[ar]ishe and was a souldier vnder the right ho[noura]ble S[i]r Thomas Saulsbury and was wounded att the battle att Edge hill and was eu[er] a faythfull subiect to his late Ma[jes]tie, and his Ma[jes]tie That nowe is, w[i]thout revoultinge And by reason of his wounds, Adge and pou[er]ty is dissabled to gett his liveinge, All this wee make bould to Certifie vnder our hands And take leave and rest

We the gentlemen, freeholders and inhabitants of the parish of Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd do make bold to certify your Worships under our hands on the part and behalf of Griffith Davies that the said Griffith Davies was a pressed soldier for Scotland out of our parish, and was a soldier under the Right Honourable Sir Thomas Saulsbury and was wounded at the battle at Edgehill, and was ever a faithful subject to his late Majesty and his Majesty that now is without revolting. And by reason of his wounds, age and poverty, is disabled to get his living. All this wee make bold to certify under our hands, and take leave and rest,
