The certificate for Grace Ellis of Wybunbury, Cheshire, Epiphany 1652

Wee whose names are subscribed Inhabitants of the townshipe of Wibunbury at the request of Grace Ellis of our saide towne make bould to Certifie vnto yo[u]r worsh[ips] the gentlemen at this pr[e]sent Assessions [sic.]

That the saide poore Widdow had her husband some yeares past slayne by the souldiers & shee left in very poore estate with a great Charge & no subsistance but what she gott by her owne paines takeing: a[nd] the labors of her sonne Which sonne was slaine in the late Fight at Worcester vnder the Command of Mayor [sic.] George Malbone. Soe yt the said poore widdow being now Growne into age at [sic.] not able to labor as Formerly & left in so desolate Condition & her Condition shee

Most humbly prayeth ye hon[ourable] bench will please to allow her some yearly pension towards her releife and liuelyhood &

The poore widdow will euer pray &c
