The certificate for Goulther Barton of Aughton, Lancashire, 8 October 1674

These are Humbly to Certifie his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace att the Quorter [sic.] Sessions Houlden att Wigan the 12th of October 1674 that Goulther Barton of Aughton in the County of Lanc[aste]r Labourer was a souldier in the kings service in Lathom House and was Corporall Souldier vnder Captaine Walthene and very servisable in the said Duty, Faithfull to his Trust, and Constant in his Loyalty and now become very Poore and indigent haveinge many Children, noethinge to subsist on, and beeinge aboue sixty yeares of Age, and almost Blynd and therefore Humbly recomended to yo[u]r wor[shi]pps as Fit to Partake of the Penc[i]ons appoynted for poore distressed loyall souldier; beeinge a reall obiect of Charity well deserueinge thereof, for his former and Constant Loyalty and pr[e]sent Exigency all which wee Humbly Certifie as witnesse our hands the Eight day of October Anno Domini 1674.
