The certificate for Giles Blaston of Brigstock, Northamptonshire, Michaelmas 1682

To the hono[ura]ble the Justices of the peace in their Sessions for this County of North[amp]ton[shire] or to whom els these pr[e]sents shall come.
Wee the Inhabitants of Brigstock whose names are herevnto subscribed doe humbly desire that Creditt be given to the petic[i]on annexed for that we humbly make bold to Certifie that the Contents thereof are very iust and true; And we make it our humble requests to your Hono[u]rs to beleiue vs that the p[er]son in the petition menc[i]oned was a souldier to his late Ma[jes]tie vnder the Command of Collonell Woodford who is dead and hath euer since continued faithfull and still is and hath been a great sufferer by being of his Ma[jes]t[y]s partie and is now aged and indigent. Wherefore wee earnestly desire and humbly hope that your hono[u]rs will consider him as an object of pitty with some pr[e]sent releife, and for the future settle a yearly penc[i]on vpon him as shall seem good to your hono[u]rs and to his Loyaltie and povertie in this doeing we shall euer acknowledge it an obligment vpon
