These are to Certifie the Justic[e]s of the peace of this Countye: That Gifford Hayward hath bin a souldier in the states service for the space of three yeares together vnder my comaund in the Reg[i]me[n]t of Col[one]l Edward Massye wherein he hath rece[iv]ed twoe daungerous wounds beinge therebye vtterlie disabled to vse anie waye for his subsistance w[i]thout Releif of the ho[noura]ble Court of Sessions for this Countye duering all w[hi]ch tyme he the said Gifford hath behaved hymself a faithfull & loyall souldier vnto the states: Which being the trueth of the pr[e]misses I make bould to certifie vnto yo[u]r Wor[sh]ipps takeinge My leave
