R[icha]rd Arscot of Sampford Courtenay gent[leman] aged 80 yeares or thereaboutes voluntarily maketh oath yt hee doth well know Geo[rge] Babb of the p[ar]ish afors[ai]d & yt the said Geo[rge] Babb serued his late Ma[jes]tie King Charles the first in the then vnhappy warrs & beli as a foot soldier & beleiues neuer deserted the said service & yt the said Geo[rge] Babb is an p[er]son of an honnest sober & peceable behaviour

& that Richard Weekes gen[tleman] deceased was his Captaine & that he was taken prisoner w[i]th his Captaine & seu[er]all others att Tiverton in this County of Devon where he was stript starke naked
