The certificate for Elizabeth Rexford of Plymouth, Devon, 20 December 1648

To the Honnorable Comitte in Exon:

And to the wor[shi]p[fu]ll the Justices at the Bench

These ar to Certifie that John Rexford of Plimoth was a private souldier vnder the Com[m]ande of Captaine Hill For the Parli[a]m[en]t, and slaine in a fight in the saide service at Mounte Sandford neere Plimoth haueing left his wieff a poore woman w[i]th three smale Children haueing noe maintainance or releefe in any thing for to subsiste on: & by meanes of w[hi]ch fight being slaine the poore widdoe w[i]th her Children lost vpon his death a Liuinge neere Ten pound a yeere doth therefore request that shee w[i]th the Children may haue some yeerely pencio[n] allowed beinge trueth here incerted. Dated the 20th day of December 1648.
