The certificate for David ap Jevan of Bersham, Denbighshire, 20 September 1663

These are to certifie all those whome it may concerne that the bearer hereof Dauid ap Jevan of Bersham in the County of Denbigh hath byn a souldier for his late Ma[jes]ty vnder my Com[m]and and being vpon service at Hoult bridge in November 1643 had foure three of his fingers cutt of withe left hand cutt of with a sword and soe became maumed as appeareth vpon sight of his hand the maime and hath lost the vse of his hand & is eu[er] disabled to worke for his liveing and with all is poore and not able to subsist of himself & therefore as I conceaue is fitt to receaue some penc[i]on towards his maintenance during his life according to the late Act made for reliefe of maimed souldiers w[hi]ch I leave to better considerac[i]on wittnes my hand the foure & twentieth day of September Anno Dom[ini] 1663.

Ordred that the sum[m]e of fifteene shilli shillings being quarterly allowed him David ap Evan & payd him by the Treasurer of the maymed souldiers & Hugh Phureer of Wrexham two shillings six pence have an addic[i]on of twoe shillings six pence to his former allowance of vij s. v d. paid him quarterly.
