The certificate for Captain William Forde, Lord Hopton’s Regiment of Foot, 19 June 1660

It being required of mee to Certifie what experience I haue of the honestye & abilityes of Captaine William Forde. I doe hereby in all humilitye certifie That whilst I had the honnour to Commaund the Regiment of my Lord Hopton, Captaine Forde was Captaine in the said Regiment, to w[hi]ch Company his two sonnes were the two Com[m]ission officers; one of w[hi]ch received his mortall hurt att the losse of Bristoll. And that the said Captaine Forde did vpon all occasions demeane himselfe like a Loyall subiect & a uery good Captaine, & deseruing man.
