The certificate for Captain John Ley, parliamentarian officer, 10 December 1645

December the 10th 1645.
Wheras Capt[ain] John Ley did vpon the fift Day of this pr[e]sent Month petic[i]on the Committee of the House of Commons for Petitions that hee might receive his Arrears w[hi]ch haue bin long due to him & was by the said Committee referred to the Committee of the Kingdomes Accompts to bee examined concerninge the justnesse of his Accompts, Wee whose names are hervnto subscribed doe certifie that the said Capt[ain] Ley hath bin a verye faithfull Servant to the Parliam[en]t, hauing not only vpon severall engagem[en]ts freely adventured his life (being once shott through the Body) but also his Estate wherby hee hath exceedingly impoverished himself his wife and Children remayning now destitute of any subsistence, all w[hi]ch wee know to be really true and very fitting to be taken into speedy Considerac[i]on. And also wee further Certifie yt the said Capt[ain] Jo[hn] Ley was in actuall service from the 7th of Novymber 1642 vntill 10 November 1643.
